Using Your Device

How to use the PelviLift pelvic floor stimulator at home

A plain-language, step-by-step guide: setting up your kit, staying safe, placing the probe or pads, running your first session, and keeping everything clean.

By Vesdee · Home recovery & device guidance

PelviLift delivers gentle electrical pulses to the pelvic floor muscles and nerves, so they contract and re-learn the movement — even when you can't feel or find them on your own. This guide walks you through using it safely at home. It's a general reference; always follow the printed instructions that come with your device, and any guidance from your clinician.

Read this first. This guide is educational and is not medical advice. Get clearance from your doctor or a pelvic floor physical therapist before starting — especially if you're pregnant, postpartum, or recovering from surgery. Before you start: the safety check

Always turn the device OFF before applying or removing any probe or pad. Never place pads on your neck, throat, chest/heart area, or over broken skin.

Two ways to use it

Depending on your kit, you'll use an internal probe (the most direct stimulation) or external adhesive pads. Use whichever your kit and comfort level suit.

Option A — Internal probe

Removal rule: when the session ends, always pull the probe out by its solid shaft — never by the cable, which can break the internal wiring.

Option B — External pads

If you're using self-adhesive pads, the current has to be directed precisely to reach the pelvic nerves. Clean the skin first to remove oils, sweat, and lotion so the pads adhere and the connection is stable.

Finding the "sweet spot": you want a contraction you can clearly feel — firm but never painful. If you feel nothing even at higher levels, stop and re-check your gel or pad contact before turning it up further.

Troubleshooting

The screen won't turn on
Replace the batteries with fresh 1.5V AA units and check that the + / – polarity is correct.
I feel no stimulation
Make sure you've applied contact gel (probe) or that pads are pressed on firmly. Then raise the intensity gradually.
The intensity won't change
Key Lock is probably on — look for the key icon. Press Key Lock to unlock, then adjust.
The cable looks frayed
Stop using it. Replace the cable before your next session to avoid irregular current.

Frequently asked questions

How do you use a pelvic floor stimulator at home?
Install the batteries, run a safety check, then either insert the internal probe with contact gel or place the external pads (red above the pubic bone, black above the buttocks or at the perineum). Lie down, power on, choose a program, and raise the intensity until you feel a clear but comfortable contraction. A standard session is about 20 minutes, once a day. Always follow the instructions included with your device.
How long should you use a pelvic floor stimulator each day?
About 20 minutes, once per day, unless your healthcare provider directs otherwise. Consistency matters more than intensity, and more is not better.
Where do the electrode pads go?
For external pads, place the red (positive) pad above the pubic bone, and the black (negative) pad above the buttocks over the sacrum, or alternatively at the perineum. Clean the skin first, and turn the device off before applying or removing pads.
Does it hurt?
It shouldn't. At the right setting you feel a clear, pulsing contraction that's firm but comfortable, never painful. You raise the intensity gradually to that level.
Can I share my probe with someone else?
No. For hygiene reasons an internal probe must be used by one person only. Rinse before use, wash with warm soapy water afterward, dry, and store in the case.

Feel it first. Then strengthen it.
